SCHOOL NEWS
Dear QAS Families,
This Thursday, October 8, we will be practicing our Emergency Release procedures. An alert will be sent out to all parents at 1:55 p.m. via the SeeSaw app. Student release will begin at 2:15 p.m. Families are to go home immediately once students are united with their parent/guardian, so the evacuation drill can proceed. The playground will be closed after school on this day.
The purpose of this practice is to ensure that our students, staff, and families are familiar with the procedures we would follow should we ever need to release students during an emergency.
Please note that the process will be different from our regular dismissal. Families will be asked to follow the designated route, check in with staff, show identification, and then wait while their child(ren) are safely located and brought to the release area. Because we will be carefully checking identification and releasing students individually, there will be a wait, and we appreciate your patience as we work through the process safely and efficiently. Emergency Evacuation Map
We have attached a map outlining the process:
- RED – Line Up: Follow the red arrow to the check-in area.
- YELLOW – Check In: Please have your identification ready.
- GREEN – Wait for Your Child(ren): Follow the green route and wait behind the cones until your child(ren) are brought to you. Emergency Evacuation Map
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. Practising these procedures helps us ensure that, in the event of a real emergency, we can reunite students with their families as safely and efficiently as possible.
Warmly,
QAS Health and Safety Committee
