o   SPCA Day –The SPCA Club is excited to host our Annual SPCA Day again tomorrow, Thursday, May 1.  See attached poster with exciting information and timeline for the day. Parents are welcome to come.

o   Crowning of Mary – On Friday, May 2 we will honour Mother Mary. Students are asked to bring a small bundle of flowers.

o   Class Pictures – Lifetouch will be here to take class photos on Wednesday, May 7th.  Please make sure students are in full uniform.

o   Track & Field Discus Schedule – if your child is in Gr. 4-7 and interested in doing discus.  Practices are before school at 8am No discus on Mon. May 5 – Next Discuss practice is on Tuesday, May 6. 

o   Volunteers needed for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon – Category Lead to Organize and Plan our annual Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon – Volunteers on the day of the event (the date of the event is still TBD)

o   RCAV Men’s Hostel – A big Thank you to all the families that sent items in for the men’s hostile, over 1200 items were collected. 

o   Student Led Conferences – are coming up on Thursday, May 15th.   Classes will not be in session on this day, as students and their parents come during their scheduled conference.  To assist us with scheduling a conference that is convenient for you, please use the Calendly booking link that will be sent to your email, later this week along with more information.

o   Return Lenten Mite Box – Lenten mite boxes were sent home at the beginning of lent to raise money for our Seminarians. Please return these asap.

o   Parent Participation Preferences – Please remember to submit your Parent Participation Preferences in the OnVolunteers portal before April 30th.  This is a new process this year – instead of indicating your preferences on the P1 form and submitting with your registration packages, you must login to OnVolunteers and submit your preferences online.  More information and detailed instructions can be found here: https://qasbc.ca/quick-links/participation-hours/.  If you have any questions, please email [email protected]

Call for Yearbook Art (Friday, May 2 is the deadline)– Open to all students.  Would you like to see your artwork featured in the 2024/2025 yearbook?   Just draw a picture on a letter size paper depicting the CISVA theme of this year: “Celebrating Our Faith”

Please submit your drawing with your name and grade to the school office until May 2.”


o   Scholastic Book Fair – will be at QAS starting on Friday, May 2 – Thursday, May 8 in the school library from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

o   Carnival Class Baskets – We’re putting together exciting raffle baskets for the upcoming School Carnival, and we need your help! Each class will be creating a themed basket, and we’re asking for a small donation of $2 to $5 to help purchase items for each basket. Every contribution makes a big difference and helps make our raffle more fun for everyone! Please pay by cash by May 9th.  Send the money in an envelope or Ziploc bag labelled clearly with your child’s name and grade, it can be given to the class teacher or school office.  Thank you for your support!

o   Carnival Donations – We are excited to announce that planning is underway for our annual school carnival, taking place on Friday, May 30, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. To make this event a success, we are seeking donations from businesses, including gift certificates, monetary contributions, merchandise, services, or any items suitable for our silent auction or raffle.

o  Book Donations Needed for Carnival Book Sale Fundraiser – We are excited to announce an upcoming Book Sale at this year’s School Carnival, and we need your help! Please consider donating the gently used books that your family has finished reading. We’re accepting a variety of books for all ages, including cookbooks, novels, children’s books, etc. This is a great opportunity to reduce your excess books at home. The Book Sale will take place during the carnival hours and all proceeds will go towards the school’s fundraising goals. Heading into the summer break, maybe your family will score fresh reading material. Book donations can be dropped off at the bin outside the school office from now until May 15. Thank you for supporting our school community!

o   Carnival Talent Show – Calling all stars to perform at the QAS Talent Show at the Carnival.  If you are interested in showcasing your special talent, please find attached the form to sign up and copies will be at the school office.  Please print and return to school no later than Friday, May 16th.


o   Friday Morning Coffee & Treats!-May 2ndJoin us for the school Mass at 9:00 AM this Friday, then head to the parish hall for coffee and great conversation—see you there!

o   Youth Night- May 2nd- BOBA BONANZA – Youth Night is happening this Friday, May 2 — BOBA BONANZA: Make your own bubble tea!  It’s a fun chance for your child to hang out with other youth in the parish and make new friends. 5:00–7:30 PM Meeting Room 2/3
