School Updates – January 26th, 2022

Dear QAS Parents,

Fraser Health has asked us to update you on the recent changes from the BCCDC (as of January 19, 2022).

With Regard to Testing:

-most people do not need testing for COVID-19. Only those who are at risk for more severe disease or who live/work in a high-risk setting.

-mild symptoms can be managed at home. Seek medical care if you need it.

With Regard to Close Contacts:

-a close contact is someone who has been near a person with COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes when health and safety measures were not in place or were insufficient.

Close contacts do not need to self-isolate but should monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 even if you are fully vaccinated or had COVID-19 in the last 90 days. If you develop symptoms, stay home.

If you Develop COVID-19 Symptoms and are under 18 years of age OR fully vaccinated (2 doses):

-you can end your isolation when all of these 3 conditions are met:

1. At least 5 days have passed since your symptoms started.

2. Fever has resolved without the use of fever-reducing medication, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

3. Symptoms have improved.

With the spread of the more transmissible Omicron variant of COVID-19, there has been an increase in COVID-19 in our communities and many people will be exposed to COVID-19. Everyone should routinely monitor symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home if they feel unwell or develop symptoms.

Remember to complete the daily health check. This a good tool for checking symptoms:

the BC Self-Assessment Tool https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en

Take care,
Miss Sandberg
