School Updates – March 9th, 2022

Dear Families,

I hope that everyone will enjoy a safe and restful Spring Break. If you are travelling outside Canada, please be sure of the following:

A Rapid Antigen test must be completed prior to returning to Canada. It must be administered or observed by a pharmacy, laboratory, healthcare entity or telehealth service. The RATs sent home yesterday and self-administered do not qualify for this requirement.

If a fully vaccinated traveller or unvaccinated child under 12 years of age tests positive, they must isolate for 10 days.

If an adult qualifies as a fully vaccinated traveller, your unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children will be exempt from quarantine, without any limitations on their activities. This means, for example, they no longer need to wait 14 days before attending school, camp or daycare.

Use ArriveCAN to provide mandatory travel information before your entry into Canada.

Monitor for symptoms for 14 days after your arrival home.

As protocols and requirements do change, it is recommended that you check on the requirements prior to travel.

Whatever your plans are for Spring Break, I hope that you have a good one!

We Made History!

Congratulations to our Grade 7 Girls team, who won the CISVA Basketball Championship last week. Our team went undefeated this year and displayed great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship. Well done Girls! We have won championships in other sports. However, this was the first for QAS in basketball.

Congratulations to all of our other teams too. All teams finished with winning records this year. Our Grade 7 Boys came very close to making the Big 8, losing a very close quarter final game.

Our Grade 6 and 4/5 teams showed that we have excellent potential for the future. We encourage our younger students to come out for their school teams.

Thanks to our coaches, who put in countless hours working with our athletes, so that they were prepared to do their best: Grade 7 Girls – Mrs. Powell and Mr. D’Alessandro; Grade 7 Boys – Mr. D’Alessandro, Mrs. Tomic and Ms.DeChavez; Grade 6/5/4 Girls – Mrs. Ogilvie and Ms. DeChavez; Grade 6 Boys – Mr. D’Alessandro; Grade 4/5 Boys – Mrs. Epplette, Macapagal and Mrs. Smolcic. Ms. Bosa also helped with the Gr. 4/5 and 6 Boys teams, as a sponsor teacher.
