Dear Parents,
You are likely aware of the increase in COVID-19 cases and the recent orders from the Provincial Health Officer. However, these orders do not apply to schools and our orders have not changed. Masks are still optional for all Elementary aged students. Wearing a mask is a family decision and is respected by all. Adults in the building must wear a mask in “common areas”. In addition, we require that all parent supervisors/volunteers wear a mask at all times.
I do ask that families remain diligent in ensuring that their children are healthy prior to sending them to school. Families are not to congregate on the playground before and after school. If your children enter and exit the school at different times, I ask that you wait in the car for the next entry or exit time.
Our community has done a great job thus far, let’s keep it up!
On another note, please remember to keep your vehicle speed to 10 km/hr. in the parking lot. Our supervisors are reporting a number of drivers who consistently forget that there are many pedestrians. There is absolutely no need to speed into and through the parking areas. We want all to be safe.
Take care and be safe,
Miss Sandberg
DRESS DOWN DAY
Students are invited to come dressed in their favorite Jersey on Monday, November 30th in support of Advent Giving. Please send a non-perishable item for St. Vincent de Paul (see below for needed items).
ADVENT GIVING
We will be collecting non-perishable food items for St. Vincent De Paul during Advent for their Christmas Hampers. They are in need of the following items: pasta sauce, soup, canned pork & beans, canned spaghetti, Kraft dinner, peanut butter, tins of salmon, tuna and chicken, canned vegetables, juice boxes, coffee, tea, cereal, tins of cookies (they have a good supply of pasta noodles already). Your support is greatly appreciated! We are asking Primary students to bring in non-perishables during the week of November 30th to December 4th and Intermediate students, during the week of December 7th to 10th. The last day for donations will be December 10th.
PHOTO RETAKES
Student photos were sent home earlier this week. Photos can be ordered on-line at mylifetouch.ca using your Portrait ID and Access Code found on your photo sheet. Retakes will take place on Wednesday, December 2nd. If you would like your child to have a retake please notify the office and we will add your child to the list.
TTO students are invited to the school at 9:30 am to have a photo done. Please call the office upon arrival. We will ask you to wait outside. Your children will be called into the school one at a time to have their photo taken.
KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE
A virtual Kindergarten Open House will be held on Tuesday, December 8th at 6:30 p.m. All families who have a child entering Kindergarten in September, 2021 are welcome to attend. You will receive an email with the Zoom link the week before the Open House. New families, just make sure that you have completed an application to our school. The application is available on the school website.
GIFT CARD FUNDRAISER
We are running a Gift Card fundraiser for Christmas. The school purchases gift-cards at a discount, and then resells them at face-value – so there is no extra cost to you! The school receives the difference (2% to 10% depending on retailer) as a fundraiser. This is an easy way to raise money by spending on ordinary, everyday things like groceries. Small gift-cards are great for stocking stuffers or for those opting to purchase gift-cards for gifts or on-line shopping. The order forms are were sent by email last Wednesday and are available on our website. Orders and payment are due before Monday, November 30th. Pick-up of gift cards will be the week of December 12th.
PURDYS FUNDRAISER
Purdys orders will be ready for pickup on Monday, November 30th after school in the gym. Thank you so much for supporting Queen of All Saints School.
COQUITLAM LIBRARY HOLIDAY PROJECT
In an effort to encourage connection in our community, the Coquitlam Library has launched a Holiday Project. Children are invited to write a holiday greeting, compile well-wishes or create an art project that the Library can include in care-packages. These care-packages will be distributed to seniors and older adults in our community! To learn more about this project, check out: https://www.coqlibrary.ca/holiday-hellos. Items can be dropped off at either library or by using the library link before November 30th.
Thank-you
