PARISH EDUCATION COMMITTEE (PEC) ELECTION

The Parish Education Committees’ election is scheduled for September 25 and 26 after Mass in the vestibule. There are three positions open for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.

One of the positions is Treasurer – “The role of the Treasurer is a critical one in the financial management of the school and as such must be filled by a person with a formal accountancy designation and/or business administrative skills with direct experience in preparing and managing budgets, and undertaking financial analysis”. If you have experience in this area, please consider serving.

Nomination forms are available at the QAS School office, Parish Rectory, or by printing the form found on the QAS website.  Nominees will need to submit their completed nomination forms along with a short bio about themselves (100 words or less) to the school office by Wednesday, September 22 at 2:30 pm.

A deadline has been enforced in order for everyone’s write up to be included in time for the Parish Bulletin printing.  Otherwise, there will be no write up for you when we post/announce the final nominees in the Parish Bulletin, School newsletter and School Website.

All write ups should be based on the following questions only:

1)     How long have you been a Parishioner?

2)     Do you have children in the school?  Please state how many and what grade?

3)     What activities are you involved in within the Parish/School Community?

4)     State your background (i.e. work, experiences, and beliefs)

5)     Why would you be a valuable member of the PEC?

Please be reminded thatthere should be no campaigning during the elections voting as per the CISVA policy.

If you have any questions or need clarification, please not hesitate to contact the school office.

TRAFFIC AND STUDENT SAFETY

As you are aware, Fairfax Street, Clifton and Brisbane Avenues are 30 km/hr. school zones between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on school days. After numerous complaints from residents, the City of Coquitlam will be placing a “speed reader” on Fairfax. The RCMP will also be enforcing the speed limit.

Please also ensure that you are keeping speed to 15 km/hr. when in the parking lots areas. With many vehicles and pedestrians around, we want to keep everyone safe!
