Principal’s Message

As we begin Lent today and prepare for Easter, our school community will be focusing on additional prayer each day and throughout Lent (praying for our seminarians, Stations of the Cross). We will also be asking our students and staff to participate in almsgiving.

1. Students may choose to help around the home and earn some money to place in the Mite Box that they will be receiving later this week. These will be collected after Easter and the money will go to support the seminarians who are studying to serve as Priests in the Archdiocese of Vancouver. Last year close to $35, 000.00 was collected from the CISVA schools and PREP programs.

2. We will also be collecting items for the RCAV Men’s Hostel. Last year, our community was very generous. They are looking forward to our support again. Items that they collect are: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, socks, gloves, toques, and shampoo. Items may be dropped off in the boxes in the front foyer of the school.

School News

o Illnesses – It is still winter, and the flu season is still upon us. We have reports of norovirus, pneumonia, hand-foot-and mouth, and colds in our community. No one should come to school until 48 hours after norovirus symptoms or a fever has subsided, or a doctor has okayed a return to school. Spring Break is coming soon, and we hope that these will all go away!

o Income Tax Receipts – If you didn’t have a chance to come by the office to get your income tax receipts, we have put them in the re-registration package.

o Re-Registration Packages –Completed packages are due back to the school office by Thursday, March 13^t^h. A late charge of $50 will be charged for packages received after that date.

o Jump Rope for Heart – Our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart Event! We will be starting on Monday, March 10^th and it’ll end on Friday, April 11^th Register on-line. Information is linked below (the date on the form is wrong) on how to register your child. Jump encourages kids to be active. It builds healthy habits, boosts school spirit and teaches social responsibility as kids fundraise for life-saving heart and stroke research. o QAS Choir – If your child is in the QAS Choir, they will be performing at the Madison Care Centre on Monday, April 14^th. Please sign the attached permission and return it to the school no later than Monday March 10.

o QAS Jersey – If your child is done with basketball, please make sure to return their jersey, making sure they are clean and in good condition.

Parish Information

o Friday Morning Coffee & Treats!-March 7^th

Join us for the school Mass at 9:00 AM this Friday, then head to the parish hall for coffee, snacks, and great conversation—see you there!

o Lenten Spiritual Formation at All Saints Parish

This Lent, deepen your faith with these opportunities: Fridays (starting March 7): Soup & bun dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by Stations of the Cross and Mass at 7 p.m. Family Prayer: Families are encouraged to have a Lenten family prayer after dinner on Sundays, or other days of the week. The family prayer sheet will be distributed at mass on March 16.
